Winter Meeting

CSBA Winter Meeting

The Colorado State Beekeepers Association Winter Meeting is right around the corner!  It will be held at Roxborough Community Center on Saturday, November 3rd.  Registration and BIG MONEY HONEY contest entry begins at 8 am and the meeting at 9 am.  Why the change of venue, you ask?  Because we were bursting at the seams at last year’s venue and this location gives us lots more room!  Roxborough Community Center is located southwest of Denver.  Click here for more information and a map.

The featured speaker for the Winter Meeting is Dennis vanEngelsdorp.  For a biography and a photo of Dennis, please click here.  I heard Dr. vanEngelsdorp speak at the American Bee Federation meeting in Las Vegas earlier this year and he is an engaging and enlightening speaker that you will not want to miss!

While Dennis is the “Main Event”, he is not the only event.  We have a full day of interesting speakers!  Check out the agenda.

This year, we are going to try something we have not done in a big way in a long time–a Friday evening “Meet and Greet”.  It will be held on Friday evening, November 2nd from 7-9 pm.  It will feature mead tasting from CO mead makers, beverages from Honeydrop and a honey dessert bar.  Recipes will be made available afterwards.  It, too, will be held at Roxborough Community Center.  As this is the first time we’ve done this in a while, I am asking for you to pre-register for the event so we know how many people to expect.

In addition to meeting our featured speaker on Friday evening, you can also pre-register for the Saturday meeting and enter your honey in the BIG MONEY HONEY contest.  Please click here for the BIG MONEY HONEY contest entry form and rules.  We will, once again, be offering a purse of $300 for the 1st place winner, $200 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.  Please note that the jar is specified in the BIG MONEY HONEY contest this year and is a queenline or a classic.  They can be ordered from any of the major vendors and are available from To Bee or not to Bee in Denver and John Hartley’s Black Forest Honey in Black Forest.

A pre-registration form is available hereThere is a 15% discount if you pre-register before October 25th.

In addition, there is a block of hotel rooms that have been booked at the Marriott TownPlace Suites.  There are single suites available for $79 and double room suites available for $114.  Personally, I am sharing a 2 bedroom suite to save some money.  Links to both of the rooms are found on the second page of the pre-registration form.

We have a truly wonderful line-up this year and I look forward to seeing you all November 2nd and November 3rd!
