The Conference countdown has begun!

Yes–Only 2 more weeks before we will be sipping the winner of the Honey Craft Cocktail contest and kicking off the Healthy Bee / Bee Healthy WAS conference in Bee-utiful Boulder! Hard to believe that it is finally just around the corner! Registrations are well above the levels of all previous WAS conferences and I hope you are one of the participants. If not, there is still time! Go to the CSBA, WAS or Eventbrite websites to sign up.

FYI–There will be NO WINTER MEETING this year. A business meeting will be held on Saturday afternoon at the conference. Some notes:

Bee-Certain is offering a FREE hive monitoring system to 1 lucky winner! The system consists of a hive temperature and humidity monitor, external temperature and humidity monitor, hive scale, and system data recorder. Click here for more information and bee certain to stop and see all of our vendors while you are at the conference.

The Farm to Table dinner is SOLD OUT!

Thanks to all who will be joining me for the event to celebrate Boulder’s finest farmers.

Swag sales are coming to a close this FRIDAY.

This is a drop dead date to order both t-shirts and tote bags. If you would like to add on a t-shirt or tote, please CALL or EMAIL me before Friday with your name, quantity and sizes. I will add them to the order and you can write a check when you pick them up. I cannot edit the Eventbrite form to make this a free-standing item.

CU Pollinator Plantings Tour

The University of Colorado has offered to conduct a pollinator garden tour of the CU campus on Thursday, October 1, at lunch. Are you interested in this? Please let me know ASAP and, if there is sufficient interest, I will get this coordinated. Call me or email me.

One of the Saturday afternoon sessions is a honey tasting. I have procured honey tasting wheels from UC Davis/Mondavi Institute and we just need some more super cool honey. Have you got any? Bring it with and we’ll share it with the public. We will be happy to compensate you for your donation. It would be very helpful to have 12 oz. to 1# jars labeled with varietal name for this event. I would really like the Hawaii and Alaska and Canadian folks to bring some of their interesting varietals. Thanks.

Conference Food

I just sat down with the hotel this week and finalized all of the food offerings for the various dining opportunities throughout the conference. This means that I need some serious communication from registrants regarding the food choices. The sooner the better! Click here to download the form.

Sorry for the grief but the hotel needs the head count 3 days before the event to properly prepare so this cannot be taken care of at registration. This is, BTW, totally my fault. The conference planning learning curve! Thank you.

CSBA Master Beekeeper Field Exam

In conjunction with the Healthy Bee / Bee Healthy conference, the CSBA Master Beekeeping Field Exam will be offered on Sunday, October 4th at 10:30 (weather permitting) at the apiary of Kristina Williams in Boulder. The address is 960 Ithaca Drive, Boulder, CO 80305. If you have already paid for your MBK Apprentice certification and exam but have not yet taken it, please contact Tina Sebestyen at to register and submit contact information in case of cancellation due to weather. If you still need to pay for the Field Exam, click here. This will take you to the CSBA Master Beekeeper page and you can then redirect to PayPal for your exam payment. The exam will take approximately an hour.
