CSBA Summer Meeting 2015

Changes are in the air for the CSBA Summer Meeting!  We have outgrown Paul and Nanci Limbach’s beautiful property in Silt, CO and have moved the morning session to the Farm Fresh restaurant in Rifle.  A map to the restaurant can be found here.  They have a large meeting room available for our use and it will be a lot easier on Paul and his crew!  The meeting will be held on June 13, 2015 from 9-5:30.  Registration opens at 8:15.  Early Bee registration is open NOW and will continue until May 30th.  Pre-register before May 30th and enjoy $5.00 off your registration OR lunch fees.

Once again, the Holiday Inn Express in Silt is offering a special beekeepers rate for the event.  Here is a link to the hotel property but you need to CALL to get the special rate of $85 for a standard, 2 queen room.  Discounts are also available for upgraded rooms.  970-876-5100  Rates are the same as last year.

Featured speaker will be Maryann Frazier of Penn State University with special appearances by Tony Landretti of Rice’s Honey, Dr. Bill Collins from Fort Lewis College on effective varroa control and Dr. Jamie Strange from the USDA/ARS Ogden Bee Lab.  The afternoon will feature our “hands-on” sessions.  Maryann will offer her “Think you can’t graft, try this!” seminar.  Bill will show you how to perform the powdered sugar mite roll to check your varroa mite counts and Jamie is bringing down some sweep nets so we can try our hand at rounding up some Bombus.

A link to the pre-registration form can be found here.  We strongly encourage you to purchase your lunch from the Farm Fresh restaurant and let us know on the pre-registration form.  Tony Fronczek has done a wonderful job of accommodating many of our dietary needs with vegetarian and gluten-free options available.  You can, of course, pre-register using Paypal on the CSBA site.  If you would like to use this convenient way to pay, simply go to the bottom of this page to register.

Of course, it would not be a Summer Meeting without the Beekeepers Ball!  The Beekeepers Ball will be Saturday evening after the meeting, at 7 pm.  We had such a wonderful time at Ed and Marilyn’s marvelous selection of Maud’s on Main in New Castle last year, that we are returning.  Molly has prepared us another marvelous menu.  The Beekeepers Ball is first-come, first-served as there is LIMITED SEATING.  Please RSVP to me at 970-213-3099 or president@coloradobeekeepers.org or simply click on the PayPal button below.  Don’t delay—this dinner fills very quickly and is truly a ball!

I look forward to another full house and hope to see you there on June 13th.  See full Schedule.

Thank you for being a member.
