Pollinator Week is June 15-21, 2015

Did you know that planting for pollinators is one of the top gardening trends for 2015?  Don’t miss the boat on caring for our pollinators this year and every year.  Planting for bees is easy and gratifying.  Check out lots of ideas for pollinator gardens here.

The Colorado State Beekeepers Association (CSBA), along with two of its regional associations, Boulder County Beekeepers Association (BCBA)  and Northern Colorado Beekeepers Association (NCBA) is pleased to present Pollinator Week with special activities in the Northern CO and Boulder areas.  This year, we have expanded our Pollinator Week presence to include nurseries and garden centers in the Denver Metro area.

Country Fair Garden Center at Colorado Blvd. – Denver

Nick’s Garden Center – Arvada

Tagawa Gardens – Centennial

Phelan Gardens – Colorado Springs

Rick’s Garden Center – Colorado Springs

This year’s message is simple:  Plant for Pollinators, Eliminate Pesticides.

In conjunction with our sponsor, BBB Seed, we have put together a beautiful publication for member use in education and outreach efforts.  Click here to view the publication.  If you would like any of these, please contact Beth at 970-213-3099 or president@coloradobeekeepers.org with your name, address and quantity needed, and I will mail them to you.  Brochures will also be available from your regional associations and at the Summer Meeting.

On Saturday, June 20 from 10-2, beekeepers will be at special Pollinator Week booths at participating nurseries to answer questions regarding bees and other pollinators.  Participating nurseries are:

Fort Collins Nursery–Fort Collins

Fossil Creek Nursery–Fort Collins

Bath Garden Center–Fort Collins

Gardens on Spring Creek–Fort Collins

JAX Farm and Ranch–Fort Collins

JAX–Loveland

JAX–Lafayette

Flower Bin–Longmont

McGuckin Hardware–Boulder

Harlequin’s Gardens–Boulder

Sturtz & Copeland–Boulder

Please be sure to prioritize our sponsor, BBB Seed, as well as our participating nurseries and garden centers, when you shop for your landscape this year.

Would you like to participate in 2015?  Please contact Beth Conrey at 970-213-3099 or president@coloradobeekeepers.org.
