Diana Sammataro @ Plaza Event Center

The CSBA, in conjunction with the Front Range beekeeping association members, is pleased to bring Diana Sammataro, author of the Beekeeper’s Handbook, back to town for a series of presentations along the Front Range.  Diana was here 4 years ago–believe it or not! Her expertise is in mites, both tracheal and varroa, and fungicide effects on colony health.  Diana is an easy going and knowledgeable speaker who will put you at ease during her presentations.  Her knowledge is vast yet accessible.

On Wednesday, February 19th, she will be speaking at the Longmont Plaza Event Center from 7-9 pm.

On Thursday, February 20th, she will be speaking to the Northern Colorado Beekeepers Association at their monthly meeting at the Berthoud Community Center from 6: 30 to 8:30.

On Monday, February 24th, she will be speaking in Denver at Denver Urban Homesteading from 7-9 pm.

This class, lead by a group of experienced beekeepers, will cover all the basics from: familiarizing yourself with the equipment needed for a Langstroth style hive, bee biology and understanding the members within a bee hive, how to manage and maintain a hive your first year, as well as discuss pests and diseases.
 
The class dates are Saturdays October 11th, 18th and 25th, 2014.This is a 3 week class which meets on Saturday from 8:30am to 1pm.  We will meet  at the THE RANCH-the Larimer County Fairgrounds & Events complex in the Thomas McKee Building-Loveland / Ft Collins Meeting room (5280 Arena Cir, Loveland, CO 80538). Coffee/teas will be served with limited snacks.

CSBA Winter Meeting @ Douglas County Fairgrounds

Colorado State Beekeepers Association Winter Meeting

The Colorado State Beekeepers Association Winter Meeting will be held at Kirk Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Saturday, November 8th, 2014 from 8 am to 5 pm.  The Fairgrounds are located just east of I-25 off Exit 181.

On Friday evening from 7-9 pm, we will have the “Meet and Greet”.

The featured speaker on Saturday is Katie Lee.  Katie is Marla Spivak’s PhD candidate.  While Katie is the “Main Event”, she is not the only event.  We have a full day of interesting speakers!

The meeting will also feature the BIG MONEY HONEY contest.  The top honey entry winner will take away a prize package worth $300, a beautiful hand carved wooden plaque and the traveling trophy with their engraved nameplate.  Rules and entry forms can be found on the CSBA website.

Ross Conrad Advanced Beekeeping Seminar @ Crescent Grange

The Colorado State Beekeepers Association, along with Honeybee Keep, is proud and pleased to present Ross Conrad.  Ross’ website is  Dancing Bee Gardens.  He is the author of “Natural Beekeeping–Organic Approaches to Modern Apiculture”.

Ross will be conducting an advanced beekeeping seminar at the Crescent Grange located at 7901 W. 120th Avenue in Broomfield on Saturday, January 24, 2015.  This will be an all-day seminar beginning at 8:30 am and ending at 5:00 pm.

CSBA Summer Bee College @ Farm Fresh Cafe

The Colorado State Beekeepers Association (CSBA) Summer Bee College will take place in Rifle/Silt on June 13, 2015.

We have outgrown Paul’s facility and will move to the Farm Fresh Cafe in Rifle for the morning sessions.  Lunch will be served on site and will include vegetarian, gluten-free and standard offerings.

Featured speaker will be Maryann Frazier of Peen State University.  She will be joined by Dr. Jamie Strange from the Ogden Bee Lab as well as by Tony Landretti of Rice’s Honey Co. and Dr. Bill Collins of Fort Lewis University.

The hands-on beekeeping sessions will be held in Silt at Western CO Honey Co.
