NCBA Meeting @ Jesus Rodarte Community Center
May 16 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

We will start the meeting with an open discussion of, followed by voting on, the proposed updates to the NCBA Constitution and Bylaws that have been tabled since our October business meeting.  These updates are intended to clarify the mission of the NCBA as well as the roles of the Executive Committee and its members; provide members more flexibility in matters brought to Membership for a vote; and address ways to handle changing circumstances that call for a response.

We believe strongly that these updates need to be approved, and will help protect the interests of Membership and promote the highly effective Association that you, our members, deserve.

Below you’ll find links to a more detailed summary of the changes and to the revised Constitution and Bylaws themselves.

The next topic is Spring Beekeeping Activities – with a discussion and open Question and Answer session.  We know this is a busy Beekeeping time of year, and want to help you be successful.

NCBA Monthly Meeting @ Berthoud Community Center
Feb 20 @ 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Diana Sammataro and Miles McGaughey

Diana Sammataro will be in the area in February, and has agreed to speak at our meeting on February 20th in Berthoud. She is a nationally-known researcher at the Carl Hayden Honey Bee Research Center in Tucson, AZ. If you are unfamiliar with Diana’s work, a profile/biography can be found here:http://www.ars.usda.gov/pandp/people/people.htm?personid=31186. She also co-wrote the Beekeeper’s Handbook which used to be the text reference for the NCBA beginning beekeeping class. She was here about 4 years ago and was very well received. Our thanks goes out to Beth Conrey, who is helping to coordinate Diana’s Colorado schedule, and let us know of this opportunity. Our meeting will start with BCBA President Miles McGaughey telling us about “Shaking Bees” – how he and Tom Theobold produce packages of bees for local beekeepers each year out at Koehnen’s in California.
