We meet from 6-8 p.m. at the Roxborough Community Center.http://gallery.mailchimp.com/faab5d795f2a24e9abc494c09/files/Directions_to_Rox._Comm._Cntr.pdf

This month we are having a honey bake off contest. We will award $100.00 to the best tasting honey recipe. Ribbons will be awarded for 2nd and 3rd place. Break out your most fabulous recipe that uses honey, bake up enough so the club can taste, and bring it to the meeting. You might go home with $100.00!…. or a ribbon.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!!

We are also having a products from the hive contest. If you have a product you make that uses pollen, propolis, royal jelly, beeswax, or bee venom, bring it – enough for the club to try , or see, (and you can sell some if you have enough), and we will decide who has the best product. The winner will receive $100.00. 2nd and 3rd place winners recieve recognition and ribbons (wah wahhhhh).

AND MORE!!!

In between  sampling baked items, and checking out and maybe buying some of the products from the hive, we will have a panel of beekeeping experts sitting at a table waiting to answer all your bee-related questions and dilemmas.  Free advice!  What more could you ask for – the best prize ever!!

It’ll be great fun. See you there!

SouthEast Beekeepers Club @ North Pinery Firehouse
May 7 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

We’re looking forward to a crowd again – but this time YOU all are our speakers.  Please come and bring observations about your hives/bees, questions that we can share and maybe answer, news about what’s going on in the bee community, maybe how you did at the Honey Festival in Parker, etc.  How are your honey supers doing?  Come and talk about them.

We are a good group of beekeepers, both old and new, so do come and share the bees with us.  Everyone is welcome.

Also, if you’d like, bring a dish for our put luck.  The club will furnish utensils, napkins, plates, and water.  Who knew – great beekeepers = great cooks…..There may be honey for sale at the meeting.

The library will be there also for your use.

For you newbees, the parking lot in front of the firehouse fills up rapidly, but there is plenty of parking just past the firehouse in an athletic field public parking lot.

We hope to see you there.  Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or need directions to the firehouse.

High Prairie Meeting @ Firehouse on North Pinery Parkway
Jun 7 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Can you believe it’s already time to put our April 2 meeting on your calendar!! (aren’t you glad it’s not an April Fool’s joke)

As usual we will meet at the Firehouse on North Pinery Parkway from 6:30 – 8:30, April 2. Everyone is welcome and we love it when you bring your curiosity, questions, and interest in bees. As we tell “newbees”, everyone starts from exactly the same place: oh my xxx those are kazillion bees in there!!!!. Ha

This month we hope to have friends and members bring bee-related items (use your imagination) to swap and/or sell/buy. We have a number of really talented members who could bring their products for the evening. I will have several smaller tables for use and if you have something to put on a table, if you could bring your own, that would help.

As usual, the club is providing utensils, napkins, water, etc., for the great food that our members bring. The library will also be there. If you have taken out anything, please remember to return it at the meeting so that others may enjoy it. If you’ve never perused our library, you might be surprised by the extensive bee information we have available.

At our May meeting (5/7/14) Luan Akins from Tagawa Gardens will be presenting her spring plants and bee-loving gardens information for us. If you garden at all, you must come and learn how you can help your bees by planting Colorado friendly plants.

Courtesy of High Lands Bee Club, Laura Phillips will again bring her information and demonstration of the use and value of the epi-pen. If you were fortunate enough to be with us last year, you will know how valuable her training and information is. If you are new, you have no idea how this will make you more comfortable about your family and friends being around bees.

The Club would like to thank both of these ladies for their continuing support of bees and our club. We would also like to thank Jo and crew for getting Laura to our meeting and sharing bees with us. We might even see Jerry Webb and get him to do some Q&As if there’s time.
If not, we can invite him back another night – right!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
