The Brighton Bee Club, founded in 2011, is a group of local beekeepers committed to the preservation and growth of the endangered honey bee. We will be offering a one day seminar entitled, So You Think You Want to be a Beekeeper, at the United Power Headquarters building in Brighton on Saturday, February 21 2015. Local beekeepers will be available to answer questions on various beginner topics throughout the day. There will be ample time for a question and answer period during the second half of the seminar.

Local beekeeper Dan Rau will be presenting a discussion/lecture on topics of interest to those who are thinking about getting into the fascinating hobby of keeping their own backyard bee colony(s). This will give you an overview of what is involved in becoming a beekeeper and provide an opportunity to interact with local beekeepers to ask any questions you may have about getting into the beekeeping hobby.

The City of Brighton is currently drafting an ordinance that will allow beekeeping in the city limits as soon as this spring. This seminar will be ideal for those who are interested in keeping bees in the city.

The morning session will cover topics such as: How much does it cost? How much land do I need? What equipment will I need to purchase? Will I get stung? plus many other topics about getting started as a beekeeper. The afternoon session will be a question/answer format. Cost is $25 which includes a box style lunch.

Pre-Registration is required as there are limited seats and can be done online at: http://www.brightonbee.club/resources/seminars/seminars/wanna-bee or visit our website at http://www.brightonbee.club and go to the Resources button
We hope you can attend our seminar and allow us the opportunity to share our joy and passion for helping preserve the health and longevity of the all-important honey bee in our local area.
