Lots of issues being reported around the state with bear trouble. Everything you need to know about bear issues is right here on the CSBA site.

Kudos to all of you who have already taken advantage of the CSBA and the Early Bee discounts and a nudge to all of you who have not yet made yours. There are only 10 days left before the Early Bee discount will expire so make some time this weekend to get registered! You make back your CSBA membership with one fell swoop! Have you checked out our rock star schedule? This is the largest educational event in Colorado in a darn long time and, probably for a long time to come. Take advantage of all of the expertise right here in your back yard! Remember–lunch with Mark Winston on Friday and Marla Spivak on Saturday are included in your FULL conference fees!

We’d like to include more events/swag etc., too. The way to do this is Sponsorships. Do you work for / own a company that would be interested in sponsoring this event? Click here to download a Sponsor/Vendor packet. If you secure a tax deductible donation worth more than $250, we’ll throw in your FULL conference ticket to the event! It’s a win-win-win!

Some events, such as the Farm-To-Table dinner have limited seating! If you are interested in participating in these events, make sure to get your dibs in early!

Check out Leslie’s latest Powtoon for some other great reasons to bee there.

There are only 10 days left to receive your special lodging rate, too! Remember, CU has declared the weekend to be Homecoming weekend and rooms will be in short supply. In even shorter supply will be reasonable room rates–such as the $159 rate we’ve procured for conference attendees. Beekeeping Booth at 2015 Colorado State Fair

The 2015 Colorado State Fair is August 28 through September 7 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Once again the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is offering Colorado State Beekeepers Association (and affiliated regional beekeeping associations) FREE display space in the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Pavilion.

The aim of the CDA is to make the Agricultural Pavilion a fun and educational place for the Fair’s 500,000 or so visitors. The Fair is Colorado’s largest showcase for agriculture and a prime opportunity for Colorado beekeepers to reach out to a large population. The Agricultural Pavilion strives to provide a fun and interactive atmosphere to help educate the public on the important role agriculture plays in their lives!

The theme at the Agriculture Pavilion this year will be “Powered By Agriculture”!

It would be fantastic if beekeepers from ALL the affiliated beekeeping associations could help with the beekeeping booth this year! Especially needed are beekeepers who will provide frames of honey bees for an observation hive! Beekeepers do not need to staff the booth every hour the Fair is open to the public. New ideas, interactive displays, and ways for a hands-on agriculture experience are encouraged and welcomed.

CDA and FFA will provide staffing throughout the building and maintain the beekeeping booth by restocking brochures. Beekeepers associations are welcome to provide other items for giveaways as well.

Beekeepers can sell honey and hive products while helping with the beekeeping booth! You will need to provide your own money box, receipt book, and related supplies.

Beekeeping booth set-up will take place on Thursday, August 27. The Agricultural Pavilion will open at 9:00 am for set-up. Beekeeping booth tear-down and clean-up will be on Tuesday, September 8 beginning at 9:00 am. The Ag Pavilion will be open daily from 10 am -9pm Friday, Saturdays Sundays and Labor Day. Noon-9pm Monday-Thursday.

Cottage Industry Labels

How’s your harvest? Going to sell some honey this year? The CSBA has Cottage Industry Bill labels available for all of you who are packing honey in your homes. They are $4 for 100 or $30 for 1000. These labels are good for any cottage industry product including honey. If you need some labels, please contact me at 970-213-3099 or president@coloradobeekeepers.org. I will need to know the quantity desired and a physical mailing address.
